Chris Thomas – Songwriter – Singer – Guitarist – Performer
From a musical family I started out in bands in the early 90’s, joining local Devon based line-up Dr Frank. This is where my interest in song writing began, as Dr Frank went on to perform 100% original material culminating in a move to London. Although we didn’t make it as a band the experience was invaluable, sowing the seeds to my early music career.
After moving on from this early band I discovered a real passion for writing & went on to join two other bands through the late 90’s early 00’s, again performing a mix of popular covers & original material. During the late 00’s I became involved with a Pink Floyd Tribute, quite a departure from previous projects! which took me all over the UK performing at Theatres & Festivals. A fantastic experience which led us to some amazing venues including O2 Indigo London, Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Cambridge Corn Exchange & Royal Concert Hall Glasgow.
After this ended I made the decision to go solo, finally committing to full time music in 2013. To support this, I perform locally in Devon as a solo acoustic act performing covers & my own original songs. This is where Bound to the Ocean grew from. I was getting requests for an album, so I embarked on a writing project in 2015, fast forward to November 2017 & the album was finished!
I feel the songs reflect my influences, artists such as Simon & Garfunkel, The Eagles, Passenger, John Mayer, Queen & I dare say a few others. The songs reflect on my experiences and those of people I’ve met during the time it took to put the album together. I love harmony & a song which is easy on the ear.
